NIKA CAMPUS REP BOOKLET

As a NIKA Campus Rep, your job is to create awareness and generate interest in poverty alleviation and NIKA Water. If possible, we encourage you to become an official club on campus. If your school will not permit a NIKA Club due to the branded nature of the group, work with the administration to understand school policy and organize events in partnership with other clubs and the broader community. Work with your friends, connect online, pitch NIKA to your favorite coffee shop. Be creative. Surprise your campus. Help make NIKA a movement.

THE OPTIONS:

In addition to a collaborative event with another organization, campus reps must also complete at least one additional NIKA event over the course of the semester. We recognize that each student has different strengths, so we’ve come up with a list of several possible options based on different areas of interest. Check out all the options listed below.

The rewards:

While we know that doing a good thing is fulfilling in itself, we want to thank you for supporting our cause and brand at Nika. Spreading the word is what makes the change possible. Make sure to scroll to the bottom and see some of the Nika merch. we want to send your way for helping! Photos and other forms of testimonials from action items are required before reps receive rewards!

overview and requirements

At NIKA we recognize that students today are very busy. But we’ve also been overwhelmed by student excitement about NIKA and an eagerness to get involved!

In that light, serving as a campus rep is meant to be enjoyable but also productive and effective. To make your experience a valuable one, we ask that all students fulfill these requirements as NIKA Campus Reps.

  • All reps must be in high school or college
  • Reps can apply as an individual or with a group of up to 5 people
  • All reps must serve for at least one semester
  • All reps must collaborate with a likeminded campus organization for one of their events. NIKA will donate 5 cases of water and the rep’s job is to distribute the water and briefly educate the group about NIKA.
  • All reps must organize and execute a minimum of 1 NIKA event per semester, not counting the collaborative event. Reps can choose from the NIKA options provided in the action items below or can craft their own.
  • Be sure to let us know in a timely fashion what action items you plan to do, so that we can supply you with the proper materials to execute.
  • One day a year, all Nika employees, volunteers and other supporters will go W/O H2O. This will be a Nationwide event that we can all paritcipate in together. The date will be determined and promoted by Nika. (see below)

We’ll also provide you with an info card on water to hand out to those interested.

What you do:
Register 50+ people to participate before the event
Wear the sticker on the day of event
Tell people why you’re not consuming water for a day and hand out info cards

Eye-Catching Community Events

WALK FOR WATER

What is it?
Millions of children walk several miles each day to fetch water, and dirty water at that. This “walk for water” that they are forced to make signifies many social ills: lack of basic infrastructure, deprivation of education or other income generation due to time spent collecting water, and increased risk of injury or rape during the walk. To shine light on this problem, you will organize a symbolic Walk for Water around your campus or community. We will provide you with facts about the water crisis to display on the route and buckets for walkers to fill up and carry to simulate the real water walk many make everyday.

What you do:
Map out the route and get campus approval
Register a minimum of 50 participants.
NOTE: There should be no charge to participate.
*You are encouraged to collaborate with other clubs for maximum impact

What we provide:

Water fact signage to display along the route
Buckets for participants to carry

Testimonial:
Send us some photos and video! Post it on Facebook!

Reward:   * * *

NIKA BOTTLE SWAP

What is it?

There are hundreds of bottled drink products on the market, so how do we get people to choose NIKA? First they have to know about it. And then they have to be inclined to drink it. In this option you will literally swap bottles, exchanging a NIKA bottle with another person’s non-NIKA beverage. You can either sep up a table on campus or at a community event or go mobile and carry bottles in a reusable NIKA bag. People will be excited to trade their half empty bottle (you can recycle later) for a brand new Nika! When you approach people with a NIKA bottle, tell them what you’re doing, what’s unique about NIKA, and most importantly, get them excited about the product and the cause the way that you are!

What you do:
Determine an ideal location / time for the Bottle Swap
Do it alone or organize a group of friends to do the Swap
Practice the pitch you will give when swapping
Swap all bottles sent to you

What we provide:
5 cases or NIKA Water (or 3 cases per person)
1 NIKA “faces” t-shirt for each facilitator

CHANGE FOR CHANGE

What is it?
At the center of NIKA is change—change in the way business is done and change in the world. Because NIKA donates 100% of its profits to poverty alleviation, all money made goes directly toward helping others. One simple way you can raise awareness and funds for NIKA is by holding a Change for Change drive on your campus. Either do it as one big event or as an independent and ongoing project. We’ll send you a 6-pack of NIKA bottles in which to collect change. It’s up to you where and how you fill the bottles. Get creative!

What you do:
Fill a 6-pack of NIKA .5L bottles with coin change. Possible places to collect change include: dorm room, classroom, cafeteria, administration building etc.
Once 6 bottles are full, exchange the coins for cash and mail either cash or check to NIKA Water's CA office.

What we provide:
6-pack of NIKA .5L bottles
